The AP Chemistry Exam

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The AP Exam consists of two parts:  a multiple choice section and a free response section. Students have use of a periodic table and the formula sheet for both parts of the exam.

The MCQ section requires students to complete 60 multiple choice questions in 90 minutes.  Some questions are stand alone items, while others are in sets organized around a shared prompt or information.  Calculator use is not permitted for this section.

The free response section contains 7 questions in 105 minutes--there are 3 long questions and 4 shorter questions. Questions include both quantitative responses and conceptual explanations.  Students have use of a calculator for this section.
